Can I publish my blog?

In Uncategorized on January 20, 2009 at 11:02 am

Many law firms regularly post to a blog and why wouldn’t they? Blogging is an excellent way to establish credibility in a particular field of law, and to create new, unique, and juicy content for better search engine rankings.  Some lawyer’s blogs are so well done that they should really ask themselves” “Can I publish my blog?” I am not posing an intellectual property question here, I am literally talking about converting your blog to book.

The answer, by the way, is yes.  There are many software programs available that will allow one to quickly and easily take his/her blog and turn it into a book.  What would a law firm do with these books?  Get creative. The book could be given out at legal conferences.  The book could be given to law students. If you blog only on a particular field of law the book could be sold as a study reference.

If you find that your legal blog is lackluster, it may simply be a matter of defining its purpose.  What do you intend to do with your blog? Do you have a schedule for posting to the blog?  Do you have a specific set of objectives?  After asking and answering these questions, it will be time to ask whether it makes sense to publish your blog.
